How to nutritionally change your life in 30 days **National Nutrition Month**

 

In honor of National Nutrition Month, I wanted to try a nutritional program that I have been hearing a lot about. In my classes for nutrition school at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, we learn thousands of different diets and dietary theories and actually accept, rather than reject, them all. You see fad diets do work, but only while you do them. The only diet that does work is one that you do lifelong, a lifestyle. That being said, I have been on the yo-yo diet train before and have tried many. I still love to try new ones that I find that are not harmful so I can personally speak on them with my clients.

Hence,¬†The Whole30. The new program I am trying for March. It does not tout itself as a weight loss diet, but rather a “nutritional reset, designed to help you put an end to unhealthy cravings and habits, restore a healthy metabolism, heal your digestive tract, and balance your immune system.” This was intriguing to me, so I decided to give it a shot.

I am one week in and I am finding it relatively easy to follow and I am already feeling a difference. I notice less bloating in my belly, less gas throughout the day, more sustained energy throughout the day, and better sleep at night – including being able to fall asleep easier!

What makes this even better is the online support group of like-minded people who are also following the plan. Since I am enjoying so many benefits so far, I plan to make March my Whole30 Month and host a free online support group for it every year!
